Nutshell... Absolutley, we are very much enjoying our house. Yes, it is. No, I don't feel any older. Yes, I'm celebrating at Chuck E Cheese tonight. Thanks so much for the emails. Perhaps soon I'll be able to blog more often. 6/28/2000 11:01:28 AM .:. | Discuss

Hot, sticky, blah So yesterday in San Jose we had a record high of 109 degrees. Apparently it's only been this hot in this area 11 times now in about 130 years. Luckily, today it "cooled" down to 99 degrees and should continue to cool down into the 80s this weekend. 6/15/2000 07:26:25 PM .:. | Discuss

In a Nutshell: Here's a quick rundown of the latest events... I'm on my own. Very happy. Also extremely hot. It's about 105 degrees and I'm not a happy camper because of this. But the point is I'm moved in though still unpacking boxes. My waterbed arrived yesterday and I'm loving it. After an hour on the phone with my new ISP I'm now able to use my dialup account until DSL is installed. Did I mention it's entirely too hot? "They" say it'll cool down considerably by Friday evening. Let's hope. 6/14/2000 03:12:16 PM .:. | Discuss

Here we go! We just brought over the second to the last load of final boxes and loose stuff, got the keys to the house, and will make one more run before we begin working on the furniture. Friends are set to arrive here a little before four when we'll also pick up the Uhaul truck. All that's left now in my room to pack is computer equipment so very shortly I'll turn this thing off and my next entry will be from the new place when I get some sort of a net connection up and running! 6/10/2000 02:08:01 PM .:. | Discuss

Move on... Okay. I now return to moving. Today's the day! In a few hours the computer will be packed up and the major furniture moving will begin. If I make it through today all will be well. Think lightweight furniture and pleasant heavy office desk down the staircase thoughts, please... 6/10/2000 10:07:14 AM .:. | Discuss

Cool! I'm listening to good friend Jessica on WERS (a Boston radio station) singing songs from Into the Woods. She's the lead, playing the witch, and I knew her when. ;-) 6/10/2000 09:33:31 AM .:. | Discuss

If these walls could talk. All of my posters are off of my walls. Much of the memorabilia (posters, photographs, ticket stubs, etc.), remnants of things on my walls from times passed, probably won't end up on any walls of mine in the future. I haven't seen these walls bare in over ten years. This whole concept, all of the sudden, is spooky. Ah well. Back to packing! 6/9/2000 11:21:25 PM .:. | Discuss

...Tomorrow. You're only a day away! Except for a few boxes on my bed and a few downstairs by the door, pretty much all of my non-furniture items (and computer, of course) are awaiting me in the new garage. I'll get everything but the computer and furniture over to the new place this evening. I also get to buy a television, vcr, printer, two phones, fax machine, and perhaps a DVD player tonight. Then tomorrow I pack up the computer, pick up my bed and couch, and move the rest of the furniture into my new place. My company is working on supplying me a dialup net connection for the month before my DSL service is set to begin so if all works out as planned I'll be back online very shortly after I move in. Loading and unloading all of the heavy furniture tomorrow will be quite a task but the good news is that when it's done I'll be living in my new house. Count on it! You do realize that after the move in countdown is done, dear reader, my birthday countdown continues... 19 days! ;-) 6/9/2000 06:25:45 PM .:. | Discuss

Sleep. It does a body good. Well, staying up to pack my room until 5am on Thursday turns out to have actually been a really good thing. I got about five hours of sleep only to be woken up by a phone call requesting I help my brother tow his motorcycle to the shop. After this I got a snazzy haircut, worked on the top-secret project, and continued to pack up my room. I got my chest of drawers downstairs, all the drawers out of my desk downstairs, etc. but at the point of actually driving everything over I was just too darn tired. So, at 8pm I went to sleep. I woke up at 8am. I haven't woken up, rested, at 8am in quite some time now. Hopefully this means I'll now be able to get to sleep normally at a sane hour and my internal clock might finally be settling down. By the way, one more day. :) 6/9/2000 09:06:02 AM .:. | Discuss

Boxing myself in... I've now boxed up over half of my room in the past few hours. This phenomenon is also known as "fifteen boxes await transport to the new garage on Thursday evening." I really should sleep now. Though, another option would be boxing up the rest of the room. Alas, I'll sleep as I must awaken in time for my haircut appointment. For some reason I've "forgotten" and haven't had a haircut in four months. New home... new hairstyle. :) 6/8/2000 04:19:24 AM .:. | Discuss

All work and no fun makes Mark a tired boy. Well, pretty much everything except for most of my room and the heavy furniture. The furniture will be moved on Saturday night and hopefully everything else will be moved by then, too. My waterbed mattress doesn't arrive until Tuesday afternoon so I'll be sleeping bagging it for a few nights. Two more days. Three more nights. Count them down with me! :) I also must admit that I have a growing crush on Ms. Malaprop. 6/7/2000 11:47:52 PM .:. | Discuss

Task management... Sheesh! All this moving business sure puts a damper on my ability to update as much as I'd like. Sorry! I didn't even have time today to make anymore trips to the new house, bringing boxes from this garage to the new one. I did, however, get a tenant policy, reserve a truck for this weekend, schedule pick up of my couches and bed, ordered telephone service and cable, and begun the process of ordering DSL service for the new place. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait over two weeks for cable to be installed, and up to five weeks for DSL. I'm semi-patient. I'll be okay. Speaking of countdowns, less than three days until I move in! Sheesh, I'm moving about ten miles, this shouldn't be so time consuming! There really should be some sort of software to allow people to plan and manage tasks like this... 6/7/2000 12:20:39 AM .:. | Discuss

Yawn. Wow. I'm tired! Dear readers, I began the big move this evening. Yes siree, four carloads later I have mostly furniture and my bedroom left to move. Then on Friday or Saturday I'll move everything into the house from the garage and start actually living in the place on Saturday. My excitement level rose that much more when I finally was able to begin moving. It's happening. Yay! Oh, I'll have to get to my Tony Awards talk another time. I'm just too tired now! In other news, I took out the garbage here for the first time. I was very pleased that this was my last garbage night here until I realized that just because I'm moving doesn't mean the garbage at the new place doesn't have to be taken out. What a concept. Why am I babbling? Night! 6/6/2000 12:23:24 AM .:. | Discuss

Dealing with growing pains... The online reaction, backseat driving, and general bitchy complaining about the status of the theatre world that comes from every Tony Award aftermath is getting to me. I've already composed my reaction to this in my head a few times now and will attempt to do the same here later this afternoon. What I will say now is many people really need to wake up and smell some reality. :) 6/5/2000 10:21:48 AM .:. | Discuss

Shit happens. And, Matt, when I throw my housewarming/birthday bash at the new place, I promise you won't get stuck in the bathroom. But do bring your phone... just in case. 6/5/2000 01:22:26 AM .:. | Discuss

Yesterday and tomorrow... For some reason I find it interesting and somewhat hard to believe that one year ago today I was hard at work at SRT doing three shows at once and just three years ago I was spending quite some time in New York City. Now I've got a great job and am on the verge of living on my own. Where will I be next year? Stay tuned... 6/5/2000 01:15:54 AM .:. | Discuss

Go figure. I don't have my Tony predictions from last year because I was hard at work in Summer Stock. I do have my predictions from the year before, however, and see that I predicted one more category that year than I did today. Does that mean next year I'll go 12 for 21? No. Next year there will be 22 categories. Why do I find meaningless predictions and statistics so interesting? 6/5/2000 01:11:54 AM .:. | Discuss

Please, no wagering... Okay. So I picked 13 for 21 (ortwo out of three of the major awards). Not horrible. Nor was the broadcast, for that matter! It was nice to see friends/acquantances Bob Stillman (nominated for Dirty Blonde) and Daisy Egan (actress in the cast of The Dead)! There's a good chance I'll be able to start bringing over boxes to the new house tomorrow! Hooray! 6/4/2000 11:09:50 PM .:. | Discuss

And he's off! The wonders of the Internet can also be a curse and therefore in 45 minutes I will force myself to be away from it for six hours. Yes, dear readers, I said six hours. You see, the Tonys begin on the East Coast at 8pm (5pm here in California) and spoilers will begin to be shared immediately. Therefore, since I like to be surprised, I will stay away. All of this, of course, you needed to know I know not why. But there you have it. Tada! Move in countdown... T minus six days! I start moving stuff over Monday or Tuesday evening and officially move in Sunday (perhaps Saturday)... ooOOOoo! 6/4/2000 04:17:45 PM .:. | Discuss
